 Design of iPhone 14

Apple is trying to remove the notch that houses the Face ID technology from some iPhone 14 models. When it was first debuted in 2017, the notch was a divisive design choice, and it hasn’t altered much since then, with the exception of a size shift with the iPhone 13. In March 2021, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the 2022 iPhone models would be devoid of a notch, instead opting for a hole-punch design similar to that seen on several Android phones.

Since Kuo’s forecast, new speculations have surfaced that have cast doubt on the front design of the iPhone 14 Pro variants. The camera notch on the iPhone 14 Pro versions will be pill-shaped, according to leaker Dylandkt, rather than a hole-punch design. Ross Young, a display expert, went on to say that he expects to see both a pill-shaped and a circular cutout. The Face ID dot projector will most likely be housed in the circular cutout, while the front camera, Face ID infrared camera, and potentially other components will be housed in the pill-shaped cutout.

Apple may also be considering placing part of the Face ID technology underneath the iPhone’s display, which would reduce the size of the cuts required and free up more screen area on the device’s front. According to both analyst Ross Young and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is working on an under-display Face ID solution, although it may not be ready for usage in 2022 handsets.

There are currently smartphones with vapor chamber cooling technology from Samsung, Razer, and LG, designed to keep a device cool while under a lot of stress.
